He Shijun (1938-May 10, 2024)
Just last month on May 10th, the sky was clear and blue. When the Xihoumen Waterway, which has always been fast flowing through Jintang Island, seems to have slowed down, it makes a whining sound.
To the east of Jintang Island, in the funeral parlor of Zhoushan City, the sorrow and joy are low. The portrait of He Shijun, the founder of China's screw capital and the "father of screws" in Jintang, hangs in the memorial hall, surrounded by flowers and cypresses, which reflects his life of pursuit. At 13:50 on May 10, He Shijun died in Zhoushan at the age of 87 due to ineffective treatment.
On the day of the farewell ceremony, representatives from all walks of life and the masses came spontaneously from all directions to pay their respects. Some people stood quietly with sad expressions, while others gathered together and whispered softly. Every scene of their interactions with He Shijun emerged before their eyes.
Traveling across thousands of mountains and rivers, speaking a thousand words, thinking of every possible way, and enduring countless hardships... With a pair of "patriotic and dedicated craftsman hands", I will follow the "path of innovation, entrepreneurship and innovation" throughout my life. As Su Dongping, executive vice president of the China Plastics Machinery Industry Association, said, we are deeply saddened and regretful for the loss of a typical Zhejiang businessman, but in the development history of China's plastic machinery industry, He Shijun's legendary story will last forever and illuminate Generation after generation of entrepreneurs have forged ahead and stood at the forefront.
