Technical Specifications For Safe Operation And Maintenance Of Twin-screw Extruder Distribution Cabinet

As the core power center of the extrusion production line, the distribution cabinet of the twin-screw extruder directly affects the operational efficiency and safety of the entire machine due to its stability. Based on international standards and engineering practices such as IEC 60079, Nanjing Kolongwell Chemical Machinery Co., Ltd. summarizes the following key precautions:

1. Security compliance and environmental configuration
a. Explosion proof level matching
In working conditions with combustible dust/gas (such as chemical raw material processing), the distribution cabinet of the twin-screw extruder should use Exde IIB T6 or above explosion-proof grade (in accordance with GB 3836-2000 standard), and the cabinet body should be welded with steel plates or cast aluminum alloy shell to ensure anti explosion performance.
b. Protection level guarantee
-Normal environment: ≥ IP54 (dustproof and splash proof)
-High dust workshop: Upgraded to IP65 and equipped with a forced air cooling system to prevent dust accumulation from causing short circuits.
c. Installation specifications
The base of the floor standing distribution cabinet should be 50-100mm above the ground, the center of the operation panel should be 1.2-1.5m above the ground, and materials should not be stacked within a 1.2m radius of the cabinet door opening.

2.Electrical safety and grounding protection
a. Reliability of grounding system
-The grounding resistance of the rack is ≤ 4 Ω, and the grounding wire adopts an independent copper core wire (cross-sectional area ≥ 4mm ²). It is strictly prohibited to mix it with the working neutral wire.
-In a three-phase four wire system, all metal components must be directly connected to the PE main line, and "series grounding" is prohibited.
b. Voltage isolation measures
When there is a mixture of DC 110V, AC 220V, and three-phase 380V voltage in the control cabinet, it is necessary to divide the area through physical separation layers or insulation partitions, and cover the terminals with protective covers.
c. Compatibility of protective components
-The rated current of the fuse is ≤ 2.5 times the current carrying capacity of the wire, and the short-circuit protection setting value is 1.5~2.5 times the load current.
-The frequency converter is equipped with a brake chopper and a brake resistor module to release the overvoltage energy during motor deceleration and parking.

3.  Operation monitoring and preventive maintenance
a. Key points of daily monitoring
-Use an infrared thermal imager to scan solid-state relays (SSRs) and contactor contacts. If the temperature rise exceeds 60 ℃, they should be replaced immediately (SSR breakdown is one of the main causes of temperature loss).
-Monitor the feedback signal of the thermocouple, and check the sensor or SSR status for temperature fluctuations above ± 5 ℃.
b. Preventive maintenance procedures
-Clean the dust inside the cabinet every 500 hours: use 0.2MPa compressed air or anti-static soft brush, and focus on cleaning the cooling air duct of the frequency converter.
-Quarterly inspection of wire joints: The tightening torque must comply with the IEC 60947 standard (e.g. M6 terminal ≥ 2Nm) to prevent loosening and erosion.
c. Emergency handling of faults
When the temperature rises abnormally in the temperature zone, immediately cut off the main circuit breaker and check the SSR status; It is strictly prohibited to open cabinets with electricity, and maintenance requires personnel holding an electrician's work permit to operate.

4.  Operating standards and personnel training
a. Personnel qualifications
Operators must undergo specialized training on the Nanjing kelongwell twin-screw extruder, and be familiar with the warning signs on the electrical control cabinet (such as the "Do Not Touch High Voltage" triangle) and the location of the emergency stop button.
b. Safety operation prohibition
-Unauthorized personnel are strictly prohibited from operating the electronic control panel and switching between frequency conversion/power frequency modes with wet hands.
-The cabinet door is locked during equipment operation, and the key is kept by the on duty supervisor.

Pyramid management framework: The stability of the twin-screw extruder distribution cabinet depends on environmental adaptation design → periodic verification → progressive management of specialized operation and maintenance. Nanjing Kolmwell suggests entrusting ATEX certification agencies to conduct protection re inspection every quarter (based on IEC 60079-17 standard), and building a closed-loop safety system.
