Twin-screw extruder troubleshooting
01.What if the screw operates normally but does not discharge material?
Reasons:
The feed into the hopper is discontinuous;
Foreign matter blocks the feed port or causes "bridging";
Hard metal objects fall into the screw channel and block the screw channel, preventing normal feeding;
Treatment method:
Increase the feed amount to make the screw feeding continuous and stable;
Stop the machine to remove foreign matter in the feed port to eliminate the "bridging" phenomenon;
If it is confirmed that metal foreign matter has fallen into the screw groove, stop the machine immediately and disassemble the screw to remove the metal foreign matter.
02.What should we do if the host does not rotate or stops momentarily??
Reason:
The main motor is not powered on;
The heating time is insufficient, or one of the heaters does not work, resulting in excessive torque and overloading of the motor.
Treatment method:
Check whether the host circuit is connected and turn on the power;
Check the temperature display of each segment, confirm the preheating and heating time, check whether each heater is damaged or has poor contact, and eliminate it.
03.What to do if material comes out of the exhaust hole?
Reasons:
The raw materials are not clean enough and contain impurities;
The feed speed is too fast, which makes the screw extrusion unstable;
The plasticizing temperature is not enough, causing screw extrusion problems.
Treatment method:
Clean the raw materials before feeding or replace the filter;
Reduce the feed amount to ensure smooth extrusion of the plasticizing and stabilizing screw;
Increase the plasticizing temperature (the temperature should not be too high to prevent burning of the plastic and affecting production quality).
04.What should we do if the main motor rotates but the screw does not rotate?
Reason:
The transmission V-belt is loose, worn and slipping;
The safety key is loose, fallen off or disconnected.
Treatment method:
Adjust the center distance of the V-belt, tighten the belt, or replace the V-belt with a new one;
Check the safety key, analyze the cause of the breakage, and replace the safety key.
